Grandpa and Me

Every now and then, wandering around with a snapshot camera results in a truly rewarding photograph.
It could have been any young child and any old person, but today it was Jack and Grandpa John... Enjoy!!

Take Care

  2. Hi Misti:

I happened to come across your blog while browsing. Loved your posts on a wide variety of topics.

Jack is really cute. I have a 2-yr old and I am growing his hair long like Jack's. How long have you been growing Jack's hair out and how do you care for his hair? Also, do you put it in styles other than a braid?

Would love to hear from you.

    Love,
    Steph

  3. Welcome, Steph! I;m so glad you stopped by! Thanks, we think Jack's pretty cute, too.

Jack's hair has never been cut. He usually wears a braid, but sometimes he wears a double tail or just a pony tail. Occasionally a scrunchy bun. We care for his hair the same way we care for our own -- we comb it, and we rinse it with vinegar (usually kombucha vinegar) when he showers and then we rinse it with cold water. The cold water keeps the tangling down, but if he does get some fierce tangles (like when he's escaped getting combed for too long) we use a little coconut oil to work the tangle out. Very simple, really. ;)

  4. Hi Misti:

Thanks for the quick response and all the tips! I will definitely use them while take care of Steve's (my 2 yr-old) hair. :)

Quite amazing to know that Jack's hair has never been cut! It will be at waist length in no time if you keep it growing. By the way, I dare say he would look nice in a french braid if you ever tried one on him. :)

    Love,
    Steph

  5. Hey, Steph,

Actually, when Jack's hair is down, it reaches his bum. ;) I braid tightly, so it shortens it significantly. I have no idea how to do french brains, I'm afraid, though I'm sure it would look tidy on him.

Not so amazing when you realize that Rod and I don't cut our hair, either. :p Rod wears a bun and hair stick and his hair is about an inch longer than Jack's.

  6. Oh, so Jack's already at waist length! :) I could sort of make out from the picture that he was braided quite tight.

How do you put his hair up for formal ocassions?

Btw, your garden pics are awesome! :)

    Love,
    Steph

  7. We don't do anything special with his hair for formal occasions, really. Just rinse and rebraid. Formal occasions are all about suits, but he's not old enough to have his own hair stick like Dad's yet. ;)

Thanks - -glad you like the garden photos. I'm getting happier with them. *laugh*
